Coastline Pet Enrichment Programs (PEP) are uniquely designed for innovative assisted living communities wanting to elevate the quality of their resident programming. Coastline Veterinary Care helps to “put a little PEP in your senior community’s step”.

The 5 pillars of a Coastline Pet Enrichment Program include Standards and Surveillance, Pet Wellness Checks, Social Engagement, Future Planning, and Staff Education.

Standards
and Surveillance

Every facility is unique; therefore, Coastline Veterinary Care will work closely with your Program Director/Resident Care Coordinator to establish care standards and protocols for your resident’s pets. A Coastline veterinarian will review the medical records for all new resident pets at move-in. This will ensure

Pet Wellness Checks

Every 3 months a veterinary professional will perform a wellness check of the resident pets. The quarterly wellness check helps identify veterinary needs of the pet that might be overlooked by an aging resident. It also helps identify the changing needs of the resident as they care for their pet. Each well check is documented via a report card

Social Engagement

Coastline PEP offer your residents access to socially and cognitively stimulating online content such as:

  • Pet Book Club
  • Read to a Pet Program
  • Pet Costume Contest
  • Pet Charity Drive
  • Social Talk and “Yappy Hours”

Future Planning with My Pet’s Path

As pet parents we never want to think about the day when our pet will pass away. Sadly, in some instances, a parent may pass away before their pet or become unable to care for their beloved companion. Future planning is the most precious way of expressing your love for your companion pet and ensuring their wellbeing even under unforeseen circumstances. Coastline PEP offers residents access to our online template, My Pet’s Path. This online guide allows the resident to create a pet planning agreement to ensure continuity of care.

Staff Education

Educational materials and pet-related training courses are offered through Coastline Pet Enrichment Programs. These online courses give your staff the knowledge and confidence to provide better care for the resident’s pets. Some of our favorite courses include:

Is it affordable?
Yes! If your Coastline PEP attracts just a single new resident, or retains an existing resident, the annual program fee is easily paid for.
Does a Coastline PEP require additional staff?
No. Coastline Veterinary Care works closely with your existing staff. Together we will establish your facility standards, schedule quarterly well checks, finalize report cards, and schedule online social activities.
